The path commences from the Davoli Marina, a centre with a strong tourist vocation, overlooking the many shades of blue of the Ionian Sea. Along a trekking route that can also be travelled by mountain bike, you can head towards Davoli Superiore and conclude the journey in San Sostene, a charming village immersed in greenery. The journey is approximately 19 kilometres long and is characterised by a medium degree of difficulty due to the route’s slope having an altitude totalling around 1,053 metres. Whatever your degree of experience, to savour a serene and safe journey, we suggest entrusting in a guide as for the most part, the routes are not signposted.
After a few kilometres, you reach the top, at a good 500 metres above sea level, near the peak of Timpa della Croce. To your back is the deep blue and before you the green of the wilderness. Upon descending, you reach the settlement of Davoli Superiore, a medieval village that safeguards a precious historical and cultural heritage. After passing the town hall and cemetery, you reach a paved road that will lead you to the village of San Sostene Superiore, the culmination of the climb. From here, descend towards the marine centre: immersed amongst the pines, corks, the peacefulness of the natural oasis and the roar of the Alaco stream comes views of the sea, offering up an unprecedented view. Flanking the Monte Fortuna and the dry riverbed of the Torrente Melis, you will reach the starting point.
Be it in your hiking boots or on your mountain bike, a story awaits to be told, written in the natural landscapes.
